Henry Joslyn gains ground with triple Silverstone score

Rising star Henry Joslyn has moved into the top ten in the Wera Tools F4 British Championship standings on the back of a solid second weekend in the series at Silverstone.

The talented teenager headed to the famous Northamptonshire circuit for three races on the full Grand Prix layout just a week after a difficult opening meeting at Donington Park, where incidents outside his control left him with a single top ten finish to his name.

Pre-event testing saw Henry lap just 0.032s away from the top ten after two productive sessions, and he was able to build on his Thursday performance when qualifying came around the following day.

Saving his best to last, Henry set his three quickest laps right at the end of the session which left him sixth on the grid for the final race of the weekend, with his second quickest time good enough to line up fourth for the opening race.

That race took place on Friday evening and having held his position at the start, Henry ran in fourth place throughout to finish little over a second away from the podium positions.

The second race of the weekend on Saturday morning featured the usual reverse grid, with Henry taking his place in P7 ready for the start.

Holding station after a hectic opening lap, Henry moved into the top six on lap two when two of his rivals clashed ahead on the exit of Brooklands and then made up a further place on lap three to sit in fifth.

A late caution period to recover a car that had stopped on track saw the field close up and Henry found himself in the wars on the one lap of racing that was left to run as he was forced wide at Brooklands and dropped back down to sixth.

Post-race however, August Raber was handed a penalty for forcing Henry off track, which promoted him back to fifth in the final results.

After a below-par start to race three saw him drop down to the lower reaches of the top ten before he was overhauled by Adam Al Azhari on lap two.

Following a mid-race caution period, Henry was able to reclaim tenth from Al Azhari before battling his way ahead of Chase Fernandez to take ninth spot and a third top ten finish of the weekend.

The three solid points scores mean Henry has now moved up to tenth in the standings going into a short break before round three of the campaign takes place at Snetterton towards the end of the month.

“After a tough start to the season at Donington Park, it was great to be back in the car again so quickly - and particularly at a circuit where I scored pole and picked up a win in Ginetta Juniors last year,” he said.

“It was important to get some strong results under my belt and that was exactly what we achieved  from the three races, particularly the first one when we got close to the podium places.”

“I’m confident that it won’t be long until we’re up there collecting some silverware and I want to build on the pace we displayed here and push hard to challenge for a trophy when we get to Snetterton.”
