Solid start to new GT era for Henry Joslyn

Rising star Henry Joslyn enjoyed a solid start to his GT racing career as the new GT4 European Series season kicked off at Paul Ricard.

Having finished ninth in the F4 British Championship last year, the talented teenager elected to take on a fresh challenge in 2026 having joined forces with Toyota Gazoo Racing Sweden to race an all-new Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 alongside Maximilian Boström.

Heading to France to support the GT World Challenge, Henry set the fastest lap at the wheel of the #29 Toyota during first free practice to sit 29th on the times before being forced to watch FP2 from the sidelines as the team worked to resolve an issue with the car.

Despite going into qualifying with less track time under his belt than many of his rivals, Henry was able to better his practice pace by more than a second in qualifying to set the 15th best time in the Silver Cup - just missing out on a spot in the top 20 overall.

Boström then qualified in 23rd spot for the second race of the weekend having set the 17th best time in the Silver Cup.

A grid penalty as a result of the work carried out by the team to repair the car meant Henry would be forced to start the opening 60 minute race from 29th on the packed grid, but he wasted little time in making up ground as he rose eleven spots in the early stages.

Showing strong pace after an early safety car period, Henry rose up into the top ten overall as the pit stops cycled through, with the young Briton amongst a train of cars that dived in with little over 25 minutes remaining towards the end of the pit window.

Boström would rejoin in 16th for the run to the flag, with the pair eventually classified in 17th overall and 13th in class.

The Swedish racer would then take the start of the second race of the weekend and kept his nose clean before pitting to hand the car over to Henry at the half-way stage.

Running outside the top 25 when he returned to the circuit, Henry set about making up ground and was soon rising through the ranks as he showed his potential at the wheel of the Supra.

A late full-course caution looked set to hamper his forward charge but the deployment of the safety car then backed up the field for what became a five minute dash to the flag.

From 16th when the race resumed, Henry fought his way up to eleventh by the finish but time penalties for a number of cars of ahead meant a ninth place classification and points on the board to cap an impressive race day performance.

“It’s been a promising start to the season in terms of our pace, and clearly we can see that the potential was there for stronger results from the two races,” Joslyn said.

“The issues we had towards the start of the weekend set us back a bit and from there, we were playing catch up as we were further down the grid than we should have been. The race pace in the car was mega however and I was able to race my way through the field in both races to finish up inside the top ten.

“To do that from where we started is no mean feat in such a competitive series, and that’s a huge positive to take away from the weekend as we turn our focus towards the next round in Italy.”

That event at Monza is scheduled to take place on the final weekend of May.
