Tough on track but memorable experience for Henry at Silverstone

Rising star Henry Joslyn endured a tricky weekend on track at Silverstone as the Wera Tools F4 British Championship made its first appearance on the support package for the Formula 1 Qatar Airways British Grand Prix 2025.

The event was a late addition to the schedule for the 2025 season and would run as a non-championship weekend, with Henry amongst a large number of series regulars who signed up for the opportunity to race on the F1 package.

Testing on Friday would prove to be productive for the Fortec Motorsport driver as he posted the eighth quickest time, meaning confidence was high going into qualifying early on Saturday morning.

Lapping quicker than he had done in testing, Henry would end up setting the 13th fastest time to earn a place on the seventh row of the grid for the second race of the weekend, although his second fastest lap would leave to start race one from 18th.

That race would take place following a dramatic F1 qualifying session on Saturday afternoon, with Henry lucky to avoid a spinning car on the opening lap once action got underway - making his way up to 14th on the first tour before the safety car was deployed to allow marshals to recover a car from the side of the Hangar Straight.

A tricky restart saw Henry demoted back to 16th, with the talented teenager then finding himself running in the midst of a train of cars dicing for position. Struggling to replicate the front-running pace displayed during the main season, Henry was unable to work his way back up the order, and instead lost ground after a trip off track on the exit of turn one whilst fighting for position.

The race would ultimately end under the safety car after a spin for one of his rivals, leaving Henry classified in an unrepresentative 19th spot.

Race two kicked off the action on Sunday and was held before the poor weather that would impact the remainder of the Silverstone action in front of an packed crowd.

As had been the case in Saturday’s opening race, Henry found himself mired in the midfield battles throughout and was part of a long train of cars looking to try and fight for a place inside the top ten.

Unfortunately, a time penalty for exceeding track limits would hamper his chances as Henry found himself classified back in 21st place.

Henry’s focus will now return to the main championship fight when British F4 heads overseas for the sixth meeting of the regular season at the Zandvoort circuit near Amsterdam at the end of the month.

“Obviously the results weren’t what I was hoping for from the weekend and for various reasons with the car, we weren’t able to replicate the pace that we’ve shown during the season so far,” he said.

“The fact that this weekend isn’t part of the championship means it has no impact on our title challenge, and although I’m disappointed that we weren’t up there fighting for the podium places, being part of an F1 weekend - particularly at Silverstone - has been an unbelievable experience.”

“We’ve got a few weeks now until our next event, and can focus fully on making sure that we are back where we should be when we get to Zandvoort.”
